Module 2: Title IX Investigator

This interactive training equips K-12 investigators with the essential tools and techniques required to conduct legally compliant, trauma-informed investigations under the current Title IX regulations. Designed specifically for school district and COE personnel, the session provides practical guidance for navigating complex investigations while maintaining neutrality, professionalism, and procedural fairness.

Topics Covered:

  • Overview of general investigation requirements and best practices

  • Trauma-informed questioning techniques for complainants, respondents, and witnesses

  • Strategies for managing difficult advisors and maintaining appropriate communication with the Title IX Coordinator

  • Preparation of accurate witness summaries, including how to handle edits and conflicting statements

  • Identification and analysis of disputed vs. undisputed material facts

  • Weighing and documenting evidence using objective credibility indicators

  • Review of a sample Draft Report of Evidence and/or Sample Final Investigative Report

This training is ideal for individuals currently serving—or preparing to serve—as Title IX investigators within K-12 settings. Participants will gain the knowledge and tools needed to conduct investigations that are thorough, fair, and defensible.

$500 Per Person for Individual Modules

Backed by more than four decades of legal expertise, AALRR’s Title IX Team is dedicated to providing strategic counsel, practical advice, and high-quality training to ensure schools meet their obligations under Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, as well as related federal, state, and local laws.

The initiative is centered on helping schools effectively address sexual harassment and sexual violence complaints involving students or staff—ensuring compliance, promoting safety, and supporting educational equity across California campuses.
