Multiple AALRR attorneys will present the latest news on current and emerging HR topics, including:

  • Title

    Description

    Training Management to Limit Liability

We all know the importance of conducting workplace training. Training can promote specific skill sets, promote safety, or be industry-related, while other types of training are mandated by law. An interesting glimpse into why employers should train, the costs associated with training, issues often overlooked, and the potential for claims

The Value of a Wage & Hour Audit

The tide of wage and hour litigation continues unabated. Given the recent changes in the law, increased litigation, and agency enforcement, employers should periodically review their practices to ensure wage and hour compliance. This session will explore the continuing factors giving rise to expensive wage and hour litigation, strategies to avoid wage and hour violations, and how audits can help identify areas of risk.

Latest California Employment Laws Affecting Your Organization

Keeping up with recent legal developments and current workplace trends poses an ongoing challenge for California employers.  This session will feature a discussion of new and pending state and federal employment-related legislation, recent court cases affecting California employers, and strategies for reducing risk.

Conflict Management - Know What to Say and When

Conflict is a problem for individuals and teams alike. When handled constructively, companies can avoid potential liability and create a healthier workplace culture. Understanding conflict management and the proactive practice of conflict resolution can focus on de-escalating disagreements. Learn tactics for overcoming arguments, strengthening bonds with coworkers, and best practices and tips to mitigate issues and liability.

    Effective Workplace Security Measures

Every organization needs to protect its facilities, inventory, and, most importantly, its workforce. This is no easy task in today’s environment. This session will explore strategies for prioritizing security, including understanding successful security measures and developing effective processes for risk analysis, with the goal of creating a aware and safe workplace.

    Compliant & Defensible HR Documentation

Human resources professionals know the importance of good documentation. This session shows participants how the emails and evaluations they write may be presented—and twisted, or taken out of context—in a lawsuit. We will offer tips and techniques while examining some of the sample documents that could have been written better to convey the proper message and protect the employer from liability.

There are some non-legal concurrent sessions that can be viewed on the host's event webpage.

This conference will help you avoid legal risk before it arises by staying current with the latest changes in labor legislation and earn you credits toward maintaining your valuable certification. We hope to see you there!
