AALRR Breakfast Briefing -
Independent Educational Evaluations:
Breaking Down the Who, What, When & How

As the school year gets under way for the 2026-27 school year, local education agencies (LEA) are facing increasingly more requests for independent educational evaluations (IEE) than in years past. School personnel are seeking more support on how to respond to them in the face of budgetary and time constraints on special education departments. Preparing thorough and legally defensible assessments is critical to making informed decisions about how the LEA will respond to such commonly seen requests.

Join Partner Elizabeth Rho-Ng, Senior Associate Denise Lee, and Associates Jonathan So and Christal Chiu Lokker for a complimentary breakfast briefing as they discuss best practices for developing defensible assessment reports, evaluating IEE requests, and determining when it may be appropriate to fund an IEE or defend the LEA assessment through a due process hearing.
