Join us for AALRR’s virtual 2026 Title IX Training Academy, a comprehensive webinar series designed to equip districts with the tools and knowledge needed to navigate the complex legal responsibilities under Title IX.

This multi-part virtual training academy is tailored for Higher Education institutions and will cover the essential roles and procedures required by law, including:

• Title IX Coordinators (encouraged to attend all five modules)

• Investigators

• Appeals officers

• Advisors and support staff

Each session will provide practical, up-to-date guidance on implementing Title IX policies, managing complaints, providing supportive measures, and ensuring due process in compliance with current federal and state regulations.

Whether you’re new to Title IX or looking to refresh your training, this Academy is designed to help your institution stay compliant while fostering a safe, inclusive, and equitable environment for students and staff.

All sessions will be held virtually for your convenience.

VIRTUAL COURSE INFORMATION

Module 1: Compliance Title IX Training for the Title IX Team

August 28, 2026 | 8:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m. 

This session provides a practical overview of the five key roles required under the current Title IX regulations.  Participants will also receive and review a Notice of Allegations template, designed to meet the content and delivery requirements outlined in the regulations. To reinforce understanding, the session will include sample scenarios that allow participants to apply key concepts, identify appropriate roles, and recognize common compliance pitfalls. This is an essential training for any staff member serving in a Title IX role or supporting the response process.

Module 2: Title IX Investigator

Attendees must attend both sessions.

September 28, 2026 (Part 1) | 8:30 a.m.-11:00 a.m. 

September 29, 2026 (Part 2) | 8:30 a.m.-11:00 a.m. 

This interactive training equips Higher Education investigators with the essential tools and techniques required to conduct legally compliant, trauma-informed investigations under the current Title IX regulations. The session will provide practical guidance for navigating complex investigations while maintaining neutrality, professionalism, and procedural fairness.

Topics Covered:

• Overview of general investigation requirements and best practices

• Trauma-informed questioning techniques for complainants, respondents, and witnesses

• Strategies for managing difficult advisors and maintaining appropriate communication with the Title IX Coordinator

• Preparation of accurate witness summaries, including how to handle edits and conflicting statements

• Identification and analysis of disputed vs. undisputed material facts

• Weighing and documenting evidence using objective credibility indicators

• Review of a sample Draft Report of Evidence and/or Sample Final Investigative Report

This training is ideal for individuals currently serving—or preparing to serve—as Title IX investigators. Participants will gain the knowledge and tools needed to conduct investigations that are thorough, fair, and defensible.

Module 3: Appeal Officer Training

October 20, 2026 | 8:00 a.m.-10:30 a.m. 

This focused training is designed for individuals serving as Title IX Appeal Officers. The session provides a clear overview of the appeal process under current Title IX regulations and equips participants with the tools to manage appeals fairly, lawfully, and within the limited scope required.

Topics Covered:

• The role of the Appeal Officer and how it fits within the broader Title IX team

• Distinguishing between appeals of dismissals and appeals of final decisions

• Review of the Title IX definition of sexual harassment as it applies in appeal evaluations

• Grounds for appeal, applicable procedures, and the limited scope of review

• Best practices for impartial review and documentation of appeal decisions

• Practical considerations, legal pitfalls, and procedural safeguards

• Application of learning through discussion of hypothetical case scenarios

This session provides the clarity and confidence Appeal Officers need to make sound, legally defensible decisions while maintaining fairness and integrity throughout the process.

Module 4: Informal Resolution Training

October 27, 2026 | 8:00 a.m.-10:30 a.m. 

This interactive training is designed for individuals serving—or preparing to serve—as Informal Resolution Facilitators under Title IX. The session provides a practical and compliant framework for managing informal resolution processes in Higher Education institutions. 

Topics Covered:

• Overview of the Informal Resolution role under Title IX

• When informal resolution is appropriate and when it is prohibited

• Required disclosures, voluntary participation, and written agreements

• Maintaining neutrality while facilitating productive dialogue

• Structuring effective resolution agreements

• Recordkeeping, compliance, and follow-up requirements

• Discussion of real-world scenarios and best practices

Participants will leave with a clear understanding of how to facilitate informal resolutions that are legally compliant, trauma-informed, and respectful of all parties involved.
