EAC ~ Affordable Healthcare Act Overview and Updates

06.24.2013
Program: 9:00am - 4:30pm
Location: Sheraton Grand Sacramento Hotel

AALRR attorneys, William Betley and Jonathan Judge will conduct a seminar on the Afforbale Healthcare Act Overview and Updates for The Employer Advisory Council of Orange County.

The Affordable Care Act (ACA) commonly called Obamacare is a Federal statute signed into law by President Barack Obama on March 23, 2010. It represents the most significant government expansion and regulatory overhaul of the country's healthcare system since the passage of Medicare and Medicaid in 1965.

While the Treasury Department has delayed large employer penalties under the ACA until 2015, other provisions of the law will continue on without delay.  This program will provide a history of the three-year old law so participants may understand the three key concepts that affect employers: the employer mandate, the individual mandate and the insurance marketplace.

We will discuss the penalties, the reporting and notice requirements and what information employees will need their employers to provide regarding the insurance marketplaces (previously known as the “exchange”).  We will also explore the major “burning questions” that employers have had concerning the ACA and its impact on the workplace.
