Overview

Mae Alberto is a member of the firm’s Private Labor & Employment Practice Group. She defends employers against claims of discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and wrongful termination. Ms. Alberto has special expertise in drafting complex dispositive motions designed to end a case without trial, as well as in appeals, in both federal and state courts. She has handled dozens of appeals, including significant appeals involving insurance coverage, contracts, negligence, wrongful termination, class action, and civil rights. She also serves as an appellate resource to other firm attorneys on effectively preserving issues and evidence for possible later appeal, if needed.

Ms. Alberto also conducts workplace investigations for both private and public employers. Ms. Alberto is a Certificate Holder (“AWI-CH”) from the Association of Workplace Investigators. To obtain this certificate, she completed a comprehensive course of instruction in all aspects of planning, conducting and reporting on impartial workplace investigations.  This included interviewing techniques and the identification and evaluation of bias, culminating in comprehensive testing to confirm her skills.

For over a decade before joining the firm, Ms. Alberto conducted investigations in complex criminal cases, including death penalty matters, white collar crime, post-conviction appeals, and capital habeas matters.  This gave her invaluable experience in interviewing victims, suspects, and witnesses, and in reviewing evidence, including voluminous documents, surveillance videos, and wiretap recordings.
