AALRR Receives First-In-The-Nation Diversity Rankings on Two Law360 “Top Firms” Lists

08.22.2017

Atkinson, Andelson, Loya, Ruud & Romo (AALRR) received top recognition by Law360 in two of the publication’s annual diversity rankings. The “Top Firms for Minority Attorneys” and the “Top Firms for Minority Equity Partners” lists are the result of a survey of over 300 law firms around the country and regularly include some of the biggest names in law. AALRR was named first in the nation on both lists among firms with 150-299 attorneys on staff—an unprecedented honor for the firm.

In summarizing its results for the minority partners rankings, Law360 noted that progress is slow when it comes to diversifying the legal industry—and even slower at the equity tier. But the firms analyzed and chosen for their list are “outpacing their peers in maintaining a diverse equity partnership—often by a wide margin.” Indeed, with the percentage of equity partners clocking in at 25%, AALRR surpasses its closest competitors by a significant percentage in this category. The publication also noted that racial and ethnic minorities make up just over 15% of the attorneys employed by US firms in general—AALRR’s staff more than doubles this number.

“Our representation on Law360’s minority inclusivity rankings has been consistently strong for a number of years,” comments Managing Partner Mark Palin. “However, receiving the top spot on both lists this year is a distinct privilege in which I take immense pride. Diversity is central to our culture at AALRR—and our efforts to support diversity and inclusivity initiatives both in our firm and in our community truly makes us unique.”

The top-in-the-nation rankings on both lists spotlight AALRR’s decades-long dedication to diversity and inclusivity initiatives. The firm’s ongoing efforts to provide the highest level of support to our deep bench of talented attorneys of all backgrounds include offering leadership and development training to help minority associates advance their careers, implementing cutting-edge recruiting techniques designed to bring in broad global talent, and developing committees exclusively dedicated to diversity promotion.

Many AALRR attorneys also serve on numerous associations and committees—including the Latina Lawyers Bar Association, the Vietnamese American Bar Association of Southern California, and the John Langston Bar Association—aimed at supporting diversity on a broader scale.

AALRR is consistently recognized on both statewide and national lists for its commitment to diversity. Last year, the firm was ranked 9th in the nation by Law360 for Minority Attorneys and 2nd in the nation for Equity Partners. In 2015, the firm was ranked 1st in the nation in the publication’s annual “Minority Report”.
