AALRR and Partner Elizabeth Zamora-Mejia Receive Recognition for Diversity Efforts

11.16.2017

Elizabeth Zamora-Mejia and Atkinson, Andelson, Loya, Ruud and Romo (AALRR) were recognized this week by Profiles in Diversity Journal® for their outstanding efforts in making diversity and inclusion priorities in both the firm’s internal culture and external community involvement.

The journal presented its tenth annual Diversity Leader awards to organizations committed to advancing the evolution of diversity and inclusion, and to the leaders who help them achieve that goal. As the chair for AALRR’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee and its all-female committee, Women@AALRR, Ms. Zamora-Mejia plays a critical role in advancing these important initiatives, and is well qualified to appear on a list of Diversity Leaders next to the names of Diversity Officers from law firm and corporate behemoths, including Aflac, American Airlines, and HP Inc.

AALRR’s recognition as a diversity leader by Profiles in Diversity Journal is the latest in an impressive list of recognition and praise the firm has received this year, including being named the country’s top firm for minority attorneys by Law360. As the publication states, the companies and individuals for this prestigious award “view challenges and opportunities through the lens of diversity and inclusion, as a means to achieving business success…organizations selected as diversity leaders employ the expertise of their diversity team members to help them meet the evolving needs of today’s business environment.”

“The firm has been committed to diversity efforts since its founding,” commented Elizabeth Zamora-Mejia. “This was something that initially attracted me to AALRR, and certainly something that kept me here for over two decades. As we continue to grow year after year, the Diversity Committee and I have taken on the role of ensuring our efforts remain at the forefront of our hiring, recruiting, and retention practices—and that we reflect our deep commitment to diversity back out towards our clients and community. I’m deeply grateful that our firm has been recognized for those efforts.”
