Join attorney Irma Rodríguez Moisa at CALPELRA's collective-bargaining focused Core Labor Relations Academy. 

This all day program will focus on: 

  • Framework for grievance processing and labor arbitration. 

  • Active process of managing contracts. 

  • Managing the grievance process, including:
    Initial investigations; initial written response based on rules of contract construction; grievability and arbitrability in the initial response; case theory; and avoiding middle management's claim that HR does not back them. 

  • Grievance processing connected with strategic labor relations. 

  • Basic rules of contract construction. 

  • Strategic arbitrator selection. 

  • Case preparation. 

  • Evidentiary standards in arbitrations. 

  • The arbitrator's perspective.

  • Non-CALPELRA Member: $435

The registration fee for this Academy includes all materials, a resource book, continental breakfast, refreshments, and lunch. Hotel costs are not included in the fees and each attendee must make independent hotel reservations directly with a nearby hotel.

Training Certificate and Credits

  • CALPELRA certification.

  • MCLE credit for California attorneys. 

  • SHRM certification for selected Academy programs. 
    (Note: CALPELRA (California Public Employers Labor Relations Association) is recognized by SHRM to offer Professional Development Credits (PDCs) for the SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP.)

  • HRCI certification for selected Academy programs. 
    (Note: CALPELRA is an approved HRCI provider. CALPELRA's programs have met HRCI's criteria to be preapproved for recertification credit; CALPELRA's use of HRCI's name/seal does not constitute HRCI's endorsement of the quality of the program.)

  • Academy programs may qualify to be used toward IPMA-HR recertification.

A Certificate of Attendance will be provided for attendance at this Academy. A CALPELRA Labor Relations Master Certification (CLRM) will be awarded upon completion of the three core Academies (Foundation Of Labor Relations, Managing Your Collective Bargaining Agreements, and Negotiations Simulation And Planning), and a final written project. These Academies may be taken in any order.
