Registration is now open for our virtual 2022-2023 Leadership Series. We understand how crucial it is that managers, supervisors, and administrators have the tools necessary to navigate these unique times and support student success.
This interactive seven-part webinar enables managers, supervisors and administrators to build and refine the skills needed to lead teams more effectively. Join trainer Barbara Ginsberg as she provides practical information and insights with a common-sense approach.
As administrators and supervisors, we often encounter individuals we find to be very difficult to communicate with due to their abrasiveness, unwillingness to listen, or negative attitudes. Or sometimes we find ourselves in positions where we have to communicate negative information to people, such as a substandard performance evaluation or a disciplinary document. Learn tips for improving your essential communication skills; learn how to identify the “filters” that interfere with effective communication; and most importantly, learn how to best use communication as a tool to influence change in employee behavior or performance.
In order to maintain a cooperative and harmonious work environment, administrators and supervisors must be able to quickly and effectively address conflicts that occur between employees in the workplace. Gain a greater understanding of the common catalysts that lead to conflict, your obligations to take action, as well as specific, appropriate protocols for diffusing, mediating, and resolving workplace conflicts. Implementing these tools in the workplace will help you to provide a better environment for all employees — one in which employees can focus on accomplishing the business of the district.
Influencing an employee to change their substandard performance starts with an effective evaluation and collaborative meeting designed to help the employee self-assess and obtain a roadmap to success. Explore common problems with evaluations, procedural requirements for conducting observations and preparing documentation, as well as tips for planning and conducting evaluation conferences
An effective Improvement Plan is akin to giving a substandard employee a roadmap to future success. Thus, it is important to not only know how to write an effective Improvement Plan, but how to deliver it to the employee in a meaningful way. Learn about the elements of a good Improvement Plan (whether for classified or certificated employees), the format, techniques for delivery in a manner that will best influence change in the employee, and the keys to successful follow-up and monitoring.
Supervisors and administrators in every department/school site often struggle with how to build an effective team that is capable of working together efficiently and effectively. Learn tips for creating and maintaining work teams that trust each other, are empowered to perform high quality work with minimal supervision, and are focused on getting the business of the District done.
Making the transition from supervisor to leader can often be overwhelming, therefore managing the work environment is key. We will review some of the essential responsibilities and traits of leadership, provide tips for infusing the practice of civility in the workplace, and strategies for both building and repairing relationships of trust.
Whether you are a seasoned leader or new to leadership, knowing how to change and motivate challenging employees or work with difficult bosses is key to your team being able to thrive. Learn tips for dealing with challenging employees and bosses, evaluating your own leadership traits, and for emerging as a stronger, more confident leader.
