Promoting and Reaping the Benefits of Diversity Through Equitable Hiring Practices
California has one of the most diverse populations in the world, but this diversity does not always translate into representation in the workforce. Studies show there are great benefits to creating and maintaining a diverse workforce both in the public and private sector. But how can an employer effectively achieve diversity in hiring when it is legally prohibited from inquiring about candidates’ protected characteristics? This session discusses lawful and successful best practices that employers can utilize to encourage diversity during the recruitment and hiring process to ensure diversity in the organization. This session also discusses how to retain employees and maintain a welcoming work environment for employees of different backgrounds.
