With its much-anticipated decision in Janus v. AFSCME issued in July 2018, the United States Supreme Court radically changed the landscape of labor relations in the public sector. As employees can no longer be compelled to pay union dues, both unions and the California legislature have taken aggressive steps designed to protect union membership.
