Overview
Leah Herras represents public school districts, community college districts, and county offices of education in all aspects of labor and employment and general education law. Ms. Herras provides representation, advice and counsel on a variety of matters including school board governance, student records and privacy laws, employment discrimination and harassment, investigations, Public Records Act compliance, unfair labor practices, and wage and hour.
Prior to joining AALRR, Ms. Herras worked as a Federal Investigative Attorney for the U.S. Department of Labor. She conducted complex civil and criminal ERISA investigations of employee benefit plans and service providers, resulting in recovery of several millions of dollars for participant and beneficiaries. Where appropriate, she worked in collaboration with the U.S. Department of Justice, FBI, IRS, National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), and local District Attorney’s offices. In addition, she worked with the Department of Labor Office of the Solicitor, drafting FOIA appeals on behalf of the Solicitor.
