Breakfast Briefing | Labor Peace Agreements
Registration is now closed. Please feel free to register onsite.
A “neutrality agreement” or “labor peace agreement” is a contract between a union and an employer. Agreements can come in several forms, but ultimately the employer agrees to support a union’s attempt to organize its workforce. Most agreements will support similar provisions such as “no secret ballot elections” or “no gag rules.”
Over the last several years, employers may have felt pressure to enter into such agreements due to union picketing, threats, or “corporate” campaigns. There is also a growing trend in which politicians pass laws requiring employers who wish to do business within a specific jurisdiction to sign neutrality agreements.
This workshop will help attendees understand potential pitfalls, trends, and employers’ obligations when handling issues involving union representation.
