Lena Smith represents California school districts and county offices of education in all aspects of education and employment law. Her areas of focus include: charter school law, employee dismissals for certificated and classified personnel, complaint investigations, student discipline and litigation. She also assists governing boards with Brown Act compliance, policies and procedures.

Prior to joining AALRR, Ms. Smith spent three years at a boutique education law firm. Due in part to the firm’s small size, Ms. Smith was given a great deal of responsibility handling a wide variety of education law matters. She also worked in-house at a local business bank, gaining significant experience in corporate governance, financial regulations and secured transactions.

As an undergraduate, Ms. Smith was active in fundraising for charitable organizations benefiting homeless families and victims of child abuse.
