Chelsea Trotter specializes in commercial and employment litigation. When issues escalate into litigation, Ms. Trotter handles all stages of the litigation process through trial. Ms. Trotter focuses her practice on employment law and defense of management in personnel and labor relations matters such as sexual harassment, discrimination, and wrongful termination, and has successfully defended the firm’s private and public clients in a number of high profile employment matters. In addition, as a member of AALRR’s Business and Commercial Litigation group, she has handled an array of commercial litigation involving whistleblower claims, breach of contract, partnership and joint venture disputes, trade secret claims, unfair competition, and professional malpractice.
Ms. Trotter also has experience in the field of healthcare. She has represented physicians in administrative matters pending before the Medical Board of California, as well as in peer review and licensing matters.
Prior to joining AALRR, Ms. Trotter was an associate at two nationally recognized firms, managing numerous high-profile commercial litigation matters relating to unfair competition, securities, professional malpractice, breach of contract/fiduciary duty, and fraud.
While in law school, Ms. Trotter received the CALI award for Excellence in Civil Procedure, Constitutional Law, and Sports Law, was an editor of the Pepperdine Law Review, and was a member of Pepperdine’s Trial Team.
Honors & Recognitions
Ms. Trotter was named a 2017 “Rising Star” by Southern California Super Lawyers. Rising Stars are exceptional Southern California attorneys who are 40 years old or younger or who have been practicing law for ten years or less. They are selected based on peer evaluations and independent research regarding the attorneys’ professional achievements. Only 2.5 percent of attorneys are recognized as Rising Stars.
- After vigorous litigation, Ms. Trotter recently obtained a dismissal for AALRR’s client in a high profile qui tam lawsuit. In addition, she recently second-chaired a five-week jury trial and successfully defended against the plaintiff’s claims of unjust enrichment and ownership of real property.
- Ms. Trotter obtained a total defense victory for a large construction landscape client in an arbitration in which Claimant was seeking hundreds of thousands of dollars pursuant to a breach of contract claim.
- She recently first-chaired an administrative hearing and obtained a reversal of an Employment Development Department assessment regarding misclassification issues.
- Ms. Trotter second-chaired a five-week trial in which the trial team successfully defended their client against claims of unjust enrichment and breach of partnership; responsibilities included conducting voir dire, direct and cross-examinations of key witnesses, and preparation of the closing argument.
