Overview

Sean M. Anderson represents clients as an attorney in AALRR's Commercial & Complex Litigation Practice Group and Intellectual Property Team. Mr. Anderson serves clients in commercial disputes and all facets of intellectual property law, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets and licensing. He has experience in all phases of litigation, including discovery, motion practice, trial, post-trial proceedings, mediations, and arbitrations.

Prior to law school, Mr. Anderson worked as a Bioprocess Manufacturing Technician at Genentech. During Law School, Mr. Anderson was deeply involved in Boston University’s Startup Law Clinic, which provides campus-based MIT and BU startups with free counsel on a broad range of legal issues faced by startups, including early-stage transactional legal and business advice, intellectual property strategy, entity selection, equity allocation, contract drafting, and debt and equity capital-raising transactions.

Representative Matters

In 2022, obtained $176.5 million and willful infringement jury verdict for Teva Pharmaceuticals in litigation asserting patents directed to method of treating headache using anti-CGRP antagonist antibodies against Eli Lilly’s Emgality®(galcanezumab) product.

In 2022, obtained temporary injunction against former executive of technology company who misappropriated company trade secrets before joining competitor and launching competing product.

In 2021, secured favorable settlement following mediation of claims by former employees against company and CEO for alleged misrepresentations relating to purchase of company shares on secondary market.

In 2021, won motion to dismiss patent suit on basis that system of targeted advertising to mobile phone users based on data gathered from user’s television amounted to an unpatentable abstract idea under 35 U.S.C. § 101.

In 2019, obtained a defense jury verdict of patent invalidity due to obviousness for Pass & Seymour in case involving ground fault circuit interrupter technology.
