James C. Romo to Assume Position of Managing Partner of AALRR

Cerritos, CA (December 31, 2009)--Atkinson, Andelson, Loya, Ruud & Romo is pleased to announce that James C. Romo has been elected firmwide Managing Partner, effective January 1, 2010. He succeeds Steven D. Atkinson, who successfully served in the role since the inception of the firm in 1979.

Mr. Romo, one of the firm’s founding partners, brings over 30 years of extensive legal experience to his new role. Prior to his election to the Managing Partner position, he was Chief Operating Officer, as well as Chair of the firm’s Southern California Education Law Practice Group. Mr. Romo began his career as an attorney with the state agency now known as the Public Employment Relations Board. He is considered an expert in labor, employment, and education law, and represents numerous California public education institutions, including K-12 school districts, community colleges, the University of California, and other public agencies.  Early in his career, his practice included representation of private employers in labor and employment law.
